An Exercise in Balancing Engagement

Many of you know that I write a lot about engagement and think about it as “the process of building relationships with people and putting those relationships to work to accomplish some goal.”

While recently at the Web of Change, I developed an exercise to help people better balance this tension between tasks and relationships. Rather than write it up as an article, I figured I would try presenting this exercise to you in video format. This is my first attempt at video, so bear with me, and feel free to drop me a note with what does and doesn’t work.

The framework for this exercise is based on an approach to “paradox management” used by a good friend of mine, Ragini Michaels. You can learn more about her work at Facticity.com.

  1. Nicely done, Gideon! I love Ragini’s framework, and you did a nice job of explaining it.
